Welcome to the NEOHO Case Study Registration page!
For this year’s case study, each delegation is encouraged to submit at least one team (of two people) to showcase their skills, knowledge and critical thinking within the RA role. The case study will be separated into two categories - New RAs (started the position in August of 2017 or later) and Seasoned RAs (were RAs prior to August 2017).
The case will be posted here 48 hours prior to the beginning of the Case Study Competition.
Participants will present their course of action, solution or whatever else the case requires to a panel of judges during the third program session (11:30-12:20) of the conference. This time will include up to 5 minutes of presentation and up to 3 minutes of questions (if needed) from the judges.
Registration is due by Tuesday, February 13th. There will be time for up to 9 teams to present in each category - registrants will be notified by 11:59 PM on Thursday, February 15th whether or not their team will be able to participate in the case study. Delegations are allowed to register two teams (one to each category) if desired; the registration of the team with the earlier time stamp will take precedent if there is not enough space for all teams that registered.
Case Study Prompt:
You are on duty and walking halls with a duty partner. You overhear from a propped open resident room that a small group of students (3) are planning to start a fight with the resident’s roommate later that evening. Their goal is to keep the roommate from returning to the room/move out. You approach the room (notice that on the whiteboard outside their room is a drawing and the phrase “College sucks!”), the resident answers, and they admit that they would like it if their roommate moved out. You notice alcohol cans (4) sitting on the desk, a candle lit on a bedside table, a large political poster displayed on the window as well as the smoke detector covered. How do you proceed as the RAs?
Some things to keep in mind!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email the NEOHO 2018 Committee at [email protected]
